Route: San Jose - Arenal Volcano - Monteverde - Tamarindo - San Jose
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN SAN JOSE - At your arrival to San José, a representative will pick you up at the airport and transfer you on a shuttle service to your town hotel. Accommodation at the Hotel El Sesteo or similar hotel in San Jose. Breakfast is included.
Day 2: SAN JOSE - LA FORTUNA - In the morning a representative of the Car Rental Company will deliver your 4WD vehicle to your hotel. You have a 7 day rental of a Daihatsu Beego or similar included in your package. Mandatory CDW Insurance is also included. Today you will drive to the Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. On the way you can visit the Poas Volcano with its impressive crater and tropical cloud forest. Accommodation at the Casa Luna Hotel or similar in La Fortuna. Breakfast is included.
Day 3: ARENAL VOLCANO - Day at leisure in the area for activities. You can visit the lava fields at the Arenal Volcano National Park, take a walk to the Fortuna Waterfall or enjoy one of the relaxing Hot Spring Resorts around the volcano.Accommodation at the Casa Luna Hotel or similar in La Fortuna. Breakfast is included.
Day 4: LA FORTUNA - MONTEVERDE - After breakfast you will continue your trip driving the road around the spectacular Lake Arenal until you reach the town of Santa Elena, where the Monteverde Biological Reserve is located. This Coud Forest Preserve is home of the most beautiful bird of the Americas: the Resplendent Quetzal. Accommodation at the Cloud Forest Lodge or similar in Monteverde. Breakfast is included.
Day 5: MONTEVERDE CLOUD FOREST - The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve will astound visitors with its beauty, bounty and great amount biodiversity. Wind-sculpted elfin woodlands give way to rainforests where tall trees – festooned with orchids, bromeliads, ferns, vines and mosses – rise high into the sky. The local attractions range from private nature reserves and hiking options to canopy tours, suspension bridges over the cloud forest, hummingbird galleries, frog ponds and more. Accommodation at the Cloud Forest Lodge or similar in Monteverde. Breakfast is included.
Day 6: MONTEVERDE - PACIFIC BEACHES - Today you will drive down a dusty road and will continue on the Panamerican Highway towards the beautiful province of Guanacaste. Accommodation at the Best Western Camino a Tamarindo Hotel or similar lodging in the Tamarindo Area. Breakfast is included.
Day 7: PACIFIC BEACHES AROUND TAMARINDO - Situated in the heart of the North Pacific of Costa Rica this hotel is the perfect jumping off point for visiting beaches, national parks, volcanoes and many other exciting adventures. BEST WESTERN Camino a Tamarindo is conveniently located close to many water activities including scuba diving, sailing and boating, snorkeling and jet skiing. Take a day trip and explore Tamarindo Beach, Flamingo Beach or Conchal Beach, all within 10 miles away from the hotel. Accommodation at the Best Western Camino a Tamarindo Hotel or similar lodging in the Tamarindo Area. Breakfast is included.
Day 8: Today you will drive back to San Jose and will return your car at the Airport location of the car rental company. Guests flying out of San Jose on DAY 8 before noon have to stay an additional night in San Jose (add $45 per person taxes included).
