Route: San José – Irazú Volcano - Cartago – San Gerardo de Dota – Manuel Antonio National Park – Monteverde Cloud Forest - Rincón de la Vieja Volcano - San Jose
Day 1 - Arrival San José - At your arrival in San Jose a representative will be waiting for you at the airport and will provide all the travel documents. A shuttle service will take you to your town hotel. Accommodation at the Hotel Rincon del Valle or similar. Breakfast included.
Day 2 - San José – Cartago – Irazú Volcano - San Gerardo de Dota - Today you will drive the Pan-American Highway towards Cartago, the old capital town of Costa Rica. A visit to the Irazú Volcano is possible on route. It is the highest volcano in the country and there you will admire its impressive crater. The tour continues through the high mountains up to the Cerro de la Muerte until you get to San Gerardo de Dota. This little village is settled in the mountains and is the home of a great variety of birds, specially the famous Quetzal. Accommodation at the Trogon Lodge or similar. Breakfast is included.
Day 3 – San Gerardo de Dota – Manuel Antonio – In the early morning you can take a bird watching tour. Later this morning you will drive down to the south pacific coast to Dominical and Quepos. This area offers amazing beaches to relax. During some months of the year you might have the chance to see whales and dolphins, even while you are relaxing under the sun.Accommodation at La Foresta Nature Resort or similar. Breakfast included.
Day 4 - Manuel Antonio National Park –Day at leisure in Manuel Antonio for activities like a hiking at the Manuel Antonio National Park where you can enjoy its pristine beaches surrounded by the exotic rain forest (National Park is closed all Mondays). There are many OPTIONAL TOURS that you can do in this area like a Kayak Tour in the Ocean, a Boat Safari in the Mangroves of Damas Island or a Horseback Riding tour in a real costa rican country farm. Accommodation at La Foresta Nature Resort or similar. Breakfast included.
Day 5 - Manuel Antonio – Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve - After breakfast you will continue your trip driving a bumpy road until you reach the town of Santa Elena, where the Monteverde Biological Reserve is located. This afternoon you can enjoy a walk on the nature trails of this amazing Nature Preserve and appreciate the wonders of the cloud forest with its different eco-systems. Accommodation at the Cloud Forest Lodge or similar. Breakfast is included.
Day 6 – Monteverde Cloud Forest - The Monteverde Area offers lot of attractions that are related with the observation of Nature. You can swing in the top of the trees on a Canopy Tour or enjoy the Cloud Forest from above at the Hanging Bridges. There is also a Butterfly Garden and a good chance to take part in a Night Tour where you are going to see the wildlife at its most active time. Accommodation at the Cloud Forest Lodge or similar. Breakfast is included.
Day 7 - Monteverde - Rincon de la Vieja - Your next destination is located in the North Pacific of Costa Rica. You drive along the Pan-American Highway to the town of Liberia, capital of the Province of Guanacaste. From there you will continue to the Rincon de La Vieja Volcano. This is a beautiful National Park where you can see volcanic mud pots, fumaroles and walk through a fig tree forest with its strange giant roots. Accommodation at the Hacienda Guachipelin Lodge or similar. Breakfast is included.
Day 8 - Rincon de la Vieja Volcano - Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin offers different tours for you to try from horseback riding along the slopes of the volcano Rincon de La Vieja, to simply relax in hot springs inside of the lush tropical dry forest. Accommodation at the Hacienda Guachipelin Lodge or similar. Breakfast is included.
Day 9 - Rincon de la Vieja Volcano - San Jose -Today you will have some time in the morning to enjoy at your convenience. In the afternoon you drive back to San Jose.Accommodation at the Hotel Rincon del Valle or similar. Breakfast included.
Day 10 – Departure from San Jose - Today you return your car at the airport to take your international flight.
